Unpainted Plastic Parts KeePer's Effects
Recent cars often come equipped with unpainted plastic fenders. These unpainted plastic fenders worsen easily when exposed to outdoor elements. Continuous exposure to air causes the powdered pigment on the surface to be lost, turning it into a fibrous structure with gaps, resulting in uneven reflection and a grayish appearance. The phenomenon is the relatively rapid discoloration and whitening of unpainted resin, known as “fender fading”.
The Unpainted Plastic Parts KeePer treatment gives these fenders extremely high durability as the silicone resin forms a cross-linking structure, of the silicone resin and the polymer. What makes it unique is the inclusion of titanium dioxide in the cross-liked film. As you may know, titanium dioxide is an effective UV filter used in sunscreens and lotions. Extremely fine titanium dioxide particles filter out ultraviolet rays with a wavelength below 385nm. As a result, it can protect unpainted resin from UV rays.
